First Contact

Hi. This is an amazing turnup. I hadn't heard from Peter Blessing since I left ASOPA in 1968. Peter and I shared a flat in Cowles Rd, Spit Junction for two years. I was an NT trainee in 67 and 68, then went to Melbourne to complete a third year before going to the NT for 6 years in 1970. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me. There are only a couple of names on the email list that I can remember. Cheers. Bruce Neale

re Next BLOG

If you click "next" it's like taking pot luck with the thousands of BLOGS out there in the ether. The answer is not to click on "next" or you will find yourself among a lot of weird stuff.

Yes, our BLOG is available for public viewing. I can restrict it to BLOG authors only if people wish but this would limit access to only those who have already signed up. In the mean time, don’t reveal your PIN, your mother’s maiden name etc.

Next BLOG

Robert I was interested in the porn show that came up when I clicked next BLOG. Then I tried it again and something different came up.
Is it a sample of BLOGS on Google?
Will our bloc come up for general public veiwing?
Please explain

Kevin Lane

Vicki have you emailed Kevin?
Unusual place for an artist. Maybe he has a wealthy patron.
My eldest son Jon works there as an engineer at present 5 weeks on and 5 weeks off. Reasonably civilised I believe but understand it is well behind Abu Dhabi for lifestyle and singles say Abu Dhabi is behind Dubai. I believe the sailing is limited.....or water is shallow.

What a lovely day I've had. It's rained for the first time in over 2 months, and all day - so the tank will be replenished at last, and I've been on the computer almost all day - doing some schoolwork, and checking the blog, emails every now and then.
Have a look at this website : http://www.kevinjlane.com/abouttheartist.html

Invites for everyone!

I've invited to the BLOG anyone with a pulse...well, actually, anyone with an email address in the "to" box of Peter's and Vicki R's emails, as well as anyone referred to me by email. The BLOG name can be changed if people wish.

Rob

Ron Sterland

And Ron Sterland, last heard of in W.A.

Nomenclature

Just wondering if we meant to limit the BLOG to 69/70 as in the name.
It's possibly practical that way and that seems to be where most of the action has been.
Bob are all being invited to BLOG this site or only 69/70 ers.
What say you all.

John Price

John Price
The last I saw of him was on TV in 1989 after he and number of other expats had been severly bashed up by the PNG Defence Force on the island of Bougainville during the Crisis. Many of us were worried that we could suffer the same consequences, being accused of sympathising with the Bougainvillian militants. He was returning to Brisbane but he may even be back on Bougainville.
Ian Wilson was working as a cleaner/wardsman??at Royal North Shore Hospital. I met him by accident there a number of years ago when visiting a PNG student from Lae Uni Tech who had spinal injuries. Ian also used to go and visit him when ever he had a chance.

Thanks!

Thanks for those photos! The names are coming back...slowly! I taught with Pat Treadwell at Daru and know that she married after returning to Australia but have no idea where she is now! Joy

Missing

Ross Martin, Ian (Troppo) Wilson, Sue Dean, Fred Newman, Lawrie Williams, John Price, Vince Tye, Bruce Walker, Christine Miller, Mike Duffy, John Jones and Pat Treadwell seem to be the ones with no trace so far, out of the PNG sections. I hope, now we've got a few NT people, we'll get a photo and some more contacts. This is unbelievable, nearly 40 years down the track!
As several of you know, Lydia Rojicek and Rosemary Wright died some years ago, Lydia in 1981, of stomach cancer.
Sylvia, Penny, Jeff Convine and Peter Clyburn are coming on board soon I hope, and I'll ring Robyn Atkinson soon, I promise - again. Vicki Ross

Long time between news

Hi everyone. Am looking forward to the big do in Brissy. A lot to catch up on. pleased to see and hear that the NT will be represented. It will be a good time for talking and listening. Gerri M (van Vree)

This is a new experience.....

Well done everyone. I am a bit out of the loop but have caught up via email with Vin Martin and Vicki (Ross). I am in touch with Peter Clyburn and have recently caught up again with Phil Donnison, Pete Blessing,Vicky (Little) and Jenny Poo (Abbot). We (Marian and I) left Bougainville at the beginning of 1990. I saw quite a bit of Beag in my time on Bougainville through the Arawa Little Theatre but lost touch after the evacuation of the island.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Greek Club.
Peter C

I'm impressed too!

Wow, this is amazing! Thanks Vicki for doing the hard yards to find us! Names are slowly coming back to my conscious! I'd love to see some photos! How do we do that? Joy A (now in Canberra after 30 years in PNG)

Together again!

It's nudging 40 years since we last saw each other as a group - scary stuff! Scarier still - where did those years go? I think we are going to need name tags when we see each other on the 12th.

Good to be in touch and see you soon.

I'm Impressed

Haven't had time to to weB LOG before but it certainly is a solution for us.
Good thinking Vicki R. and good work Bob.
Now, how do we get the photos up on the BLOG Bob? Or are they hiding somewhere for me to find.
Peter B

Send and they shall be added!

Any new names and emails to me, please.

We are off to see the Dunneyseat band tomorrow - a review will follow on this site.
Jennifer Pooh Abbott Quigley and I met with Robert Eggleston this week - a talkfest.
More later
The other Vicki

Seek and ye shall find; ask and ye shall receive ...!

Was that you setting this up Bob/Rob Cuttell? You are very smart on quick off the mark. I have nothing else to say now, except to ask do we need to send new contacts to you or what?
And now I'll find out what the difference is between a title and a label, once I click on publish. Vicki

and they're racing...

First to sign up on the "asopa6970" blog is Neil. Well done!
Blog site is pretty raw-looking at the moment, but post a comment, folks, to get it started.
